Other language courses
In addition to the Integration Courses, there are also other language courses you may take. These courses have various language levels and topics.
Language Courses, levels A1 to C1
At many language schools, you can take a class that has a certain language level as its goal. For example, you can take an A2-Class and will have level A2 at the end of the course. You must pay for these courses yourself and you can register directly at the language school. Possible course levels are: A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1.
Vocational Language Promotion (Berufsbezogene Deutschförderung, gem. § 45 a AufenthaltsG)
In this course, you will learn German specifically for your profession. There are various levels (B2, C1, C2) as well as various vocational fields (healthcare practitioner / doctor, retail, etc.) You may take these courses once you have successfully completed an integration course or have the language level B1. The employment agency (Agentur für Arbeit) or the Jobcenter has more information about these courses and will take care of the registration for you. If you are already working, you may request a certificate of eligibility from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bundesministerium für Migration und Flüchtlinge, BAMF).
You’ll find more information about occupation-based Germany language training courses on the BAMF website.
